Building AD DS for Lab

Before we start configure Windows Server as AD DS, we need to prepare the following information.
Host name: AD01
IP: 10.10.10.10 /24
DNS: 10.10.10.10
Default Gateway: 10.10.10.1 (optional)

Pre-Step 1: Change Network Setting
1. Go to “Control Panel” > “Network and Internet” > “Network and Sharing Center
2. Click “Change adapter settings
3. Right-click the adapter you are need to change setting
4. Click “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)” and then the “Properties” button
5. Fill in the prepared network information.
P.S.: AD DS need to work with DNS. When you promote server to DC, it will install DNS on the server at the same time.

Pre-Step 2: Change Server Host name (Need to Reboot)
1. Go to “Control Panel” > “System and Security” > “System

2. Click “Change settings
3. Click “Change
4. Click “OK
P.S.: After you promote server to DC, you need to use “netcom” command to rename DC.
